As stewards of this amazing place and vineyard, Nathalie Guion-Buechley and myself, Drew Buechley, welcome you.
Natalie is a French schooled professional horse trainer and equestrian teacher. An investment banker, general management consultant, and executive by profession, I come from a family of farmers in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Texas. I grew up on a 25 acre farm with vegetables, fruit, and an orchard. My family farmed sustainably and pursued permaculture practices before knowing what the term meant. I often tell people that these are not new concepts - you don’t want to lose your soil to erosion, you have to keep the soil nutritionally balanced, and the animals and native plants have to be in harmony if you want it to all work well. On our family farm outside inputs were used very selectively because we achieved better production without them. Some vegetables were profoundly different and hot house lettuce was always better than store-bought.
Natalie and I view ourselves as stewards of the 260-acre ranch that the vineyard sits on and actively engage in practices and projects to preserve and restore the land. We have engaged in numerous projects to restore and preserve the land with the NCRS and USDA including native trees and shrubs, hedgerow and wildlife buffers, integrated pollination, and animal habitat restoration programs.
In general, Nathalie and I share a deep love for animals, the land, and the harmony between. We always invite people who share their passion to come and get their hands dirty and engage in direct work to preserve the land and its creatures.
